I love your Freak Circus au, The Fool Who Yearns, it's so adorable, especially Evangeline. Anyways, you know how some creatures imprint on children as a way of claiming them as their child, how long did it take Jester to finally imprint on Jelly and how do you think he did it?
I think it wouldn't take very long after they move into the circus and start travelling with the circus troupe. Maybe a month or so and that's only because Jester doesn't want to move things along too fast and startle mc or her daughter
He would definitely do silent little things like mayhaps scenting Evangeline to let other monsters know that she's his and not to touch! He wants to keep her safe when they run into other groups of monsters, you know?
I can see mc not knowing what he's doing and just thinking he's showing her daughter affections and Harlequin just giggling to himself from a distance already knowing that Jester is absolutely smitten and whipped
